If you’re in the market for a Carolina Game Table for 8 people, the 5×5 Kickstarter is a fantastic deal! The table reward level is $1699, a savings from the website price later. If you’re looking for a dining gaming table and a Coffee Game Table, you can save even more by backing the 5×5 Game Table Kickstarter for $2449!
We know not all of our supporters are in the market for a game table so we also have other reward levels. We hope to create Dinner & Dice, a Gaming Cookbook Volume 2 (check out Volume 1 on DriveThruRPG here!) as a stretch goal for this Kickstarter, so at goal ALL backers $10 or higher get a digital copy of Volume 1. At $15 backers receive a softcover copy of Dinner & Dice Volume 1. At $25 backers receive a set of our Leather Coasters in a tin. Shipping is not included for the book or coasters, but we can ship worldwide. After goal we begin working on the stretch goal of Dinner & Dice, Volume 2!
Every day of the Kickstarter we share images of the 5×5 Game Table prepared for play with some of your favorite board games, card games, and tabletop roleplaying games. Please share these on your social media feeds so we get the word out about the project. And hey, look how versatile this table is!! For more photos, check out the Kickstarter!

We have the most contacts with the tabletop roleplaying game industry, so these are just the people we’ve run into recently. 🙂 We know plenty of Twitch Streamers, creators of board games and card games, and others from the tabletop community you might have heard of…but we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves. We still need to hit our funding goal on Kickstarter before we can work on stretch goals—which is where you come in!
Kickstarter runs from August 27th at noon Eastern until September 23rd at 10pm Eastern.
We appreciate your help in spreading the word today. Thank you! For any questions, email us at [email protected]
Kickstarter for 5×5 Game Table Launches Tuesday!
5×5 Game Table Kickstarter to Run Aug 27—Sept. 23
If you’ve been as excited about our newest game table design as we are, we hope you’ll mark next Tuesday at noon Eastern (August 27th) on your calendar, and join us for the kickoff on Kickstarter!
Features of the “5×5”
This newest design is called the “5×5” or “Five by Five,” because the overall dimensions are five feet square. When the dining top is in place, one seam at the 2.5 foot mark divides the table, like a normal table leaf.
The 5×5 as a dining table is strong enough to stand up to everyday use for eating, homework, craft projects, and everything else a normal family uses the central household table for!
When you’re ready to play a game, simply remove the dining top pieces to reveal a 38″ x 38″ square play area. Cup holders are an Add On option, and may be purchased as a set of four (one at each corner of the table), or a set of eight as shown.
Wide edges like our eleven inch (11″) sides on the 5×5 are a signature look for Carolina Game Tables! These provide plenty of space for:
RPG character sheets
Board game components
Full size books and rulebooks
Drinks and our inset cup holders
We’ve fallen in love with this new design, and the feedback from attendees at Gen Con who saw it was overwhelmingly positive. This may become our new bestseller!
Marketing impact, bulk ordering, and being able to offer a price reduction for the first round of orders.
Each project has long-reaching marketing impact. We never dream of being the next million dollar Kickstarter (we know that comes with as much risk as reward). Simply having a project—funded or not—keeps our designs in the public eye and at the top of search engine results.
We can also gather a large number of table orders for the same design this way, and pass the savings along to our backers/customers by offering a price lower than we will be able to offer for single-orders later. The base price for the 5×5 Game Table will be $1799 once it is listed for sale on our website. It will be $1699 on Kickstarter, or $2449 for a 5×5 Game Table and a Coffee Game Table set!
5×5 Not Your Thing? Then Check These Out!
We won’t be closing the shop while the Kickstarter runs, so you can still order our existing designs at www.carolinagametables.com.
We’re all over Gen Con 2019—and if you’re staying at home, you can even see our Streamer all Gen Con long on their Twitch channel! We have a new fabric color starting in August (Grey) and a new coffee height option on the Kitchen Game Table. We also preview our next design—the “5×5″—and collect feedback from attendees. We’ll have a prototype of the “5×5” at Gen Con in our Exhibit Hall Booth 1953 (see details below).
Here’s a list of all the places our game tables will be and the events we’re attending.
Gen Con Exhibit Booth 1953
This is “home base” for us all weekend! Come see the new “5×5” prototype and our popular $899 Coffee Game Table. Jodi Black will stay near this booth.
When you’re walking from the Exhibit Hall to events in Lucas Oil Field Stadium, you can’t miss the Tabletop Showroom! Other game furniture manufacturers will be set up with us so you can examine a variety of styles and options in one place.
Gen Con Event: The Stink! Wednesday 5-8pm Union Station Grand Hall
If you can be at Gen Con early and want to play some games and pick up some cool swag and prizes, plan to join us at The Stink! Tickets are free and guarantee swag. You can also just show up without a ticket, but please register so Gen Con gives them the space next year. Here’s the Gen Con event link.
We’ll have the counter height Kitchen Game Table set up here and plan to run fast demo games of the new Savage Worlds core rules. Donations from Pinnacle and Carolina Game Tables will both be available at this event!
Clint and Jodi Black work closely with Pinnacle Entertainment Group (Jodi is COO of PEG and President of CGT; Clint is Core Rules Guru of PEG and VP for CGT). So Savage Worlds ADventure Edition core rules—or #SWADE as it’s called by fans—is something they’re very proud of.
What Do You Think of the “5×5?”
We’ll have the prototype of this newest design in our Exhibit Hall Booth at Gen Con (Booth 1953), and we’d love to meet you and hear what you think about it!
The “5×5” is five feet square with a 38′ square play area; same as the Kitchen Game Table, but with 11 inch edges. This design allows for four or eight cup holders, and may be built at coffee, dining, counter, or bar height. The prototype is at dining height. The dining top is a two piece design.
We look forward to seeing your reaction to the “5×5” prototype and anticipate hearing lots of feedback. We will have a suggestion box to accept new design ideas, since there’s no way we can keep track of them all!
Thank you for helping us spread the word about our classically styled and generously proportioned game tables. We are a family business and appreciate your support. We’re going to have so much fun at Gen Con, and hope to see you there!
Ho Ho Ho! May the Fourth Be With You!
We hope you’re having a great start to the warmer Spring months! We have a great deal for anyone who is looking for a Spring sale (or want their table by Christmas!) on our beautiful and sturdy game tables—the coupons from PAX East end May 12th!
Wait…CHRISTMAS? Yes. Because White Glove Delivery can take 4–9 weeks depending on your location, we recommend you place your order by May 31st for Christmas delivery. If you live on the West Coast, you really need to plan for your order to be placed by May 15th. We’ll certainly try to get your order to you after that point (our production time still averages 4 months), but our experience shows this is the most effective way to do it.
Here at Carolina Game Tables we celebrated International Tabletop Day, made summer convention plans, and we have a couple “As Is” tables for immediate sale in our Hickory, NC, showroom (now with White Glove Delivery available!).
But more on that later—here’s the ad previously printed in the PAX East program guide, complete with coupon codes!

Make Plans to Join us at ConCarolinas, Gen Con, and DragonCon This Summer!
Our first convention of the summer is in Charlotte, NC, at ConCarolinas May 31-June 2nd. This is a growing convention local to us, and we will be in attendance Friday and Saturday, returning Sunday evening to pack up (we have a church commitment that morning). Of all our summer conventions this is the ONLY show we are running Savage Worlds demos and games as well as having the Carolina Game Tables booth. We know a lot of our customers are interested in our award-winning tabletop roleplaying game, so we wanted to let you know this is the best convention to be able to play with us!
We will not be at Origins in Columbus, OH, this year due to a family conflict—our daughter graduates from high school that weekend! We’ll return in 2020.
Gen Con in Indianapolis, IN, August 1-4th, will be a big event for us, though, with a booth on the Exhibit Floor and a special showcase in the corridor leading to Lucas Oil Stadium. Yes, Gen Con is so huge they have tabletop events on the field!
Our last convention of the summer will be DragonCon in Atlanta, GA, Aug. 29–Sept. 2nd. We have not heard about our booth placement yet, but we’ll likely have another update before then.
Pics from Our 2019 International Tabletop Day Celebration!
We heard GeeknSundry changed the date from the last Saturday in April to the first in June, but seeing as how we’ll be at ConCarolinas, we kept the April date and will continue to keep it. Sorry, GeeknSundry! April was also when we opened our showroom in 2016, so it’s an anniversary celebration for us as well. Other than this event and one in the Fall (TBD), our showroom hours are by appointment only.
Mark your calendar now for next year to join us: April 25, 2020!

We (Clint and Jodi Black, the owners of Carolina Game Tables) have been very involved in the making of this tabletop roleplaying game and can’t wait to show off how versatile and fun it is to play.
Since we made the announcement about our International Tabletop Day celebration, Geek and Sundry decided to shift the international observance of the day to June 1st! We’re keeping this date since we will be attending ConCarolinas that weekend.
We’ve also added demos of Charlotte game designer Alex McMeeken’s board game Photopathy. Be one of the first to try this gorgeous new game!

Off to a Great Start in 2019
This is a red letter year for our family. By August both our children will be in college! This should mean we can schedule more conventions in 2020 (and we’d love to hear about your favorite regional con!). However, this year we need to scale back. Depending on when college move-in dates shake out, we may even need to skip Gen Con or DragonCon. Let’s hope not! But our kids come first.
Meet Sarah, Customer Service Representative!
One way we were able to grow in 2018 was with the excellent help of Sarah. Every day, she helps us keep orders straight and everything running like clockwork when we’re on the road. When you email [email protected] the email goes to all three of us, but usually Sarah answers first! She also brings fierce photography skills to the showroom and usually photographs our tables for the spec sheet and other promotional pieces. We tend to use #RealCustomerPhotos in our social media–keep sending us those pics. y’all!
Plan a Visit to Our Showroom in 2019!
We hope you’ll consider a visit to our showroom in Hickory, NC. We simply cannot take all our table designs to every show! Tablezilla, we have learned, is too big to handle at a show. Please email us to arrange a day and time to stop by. We don’t keep regular hours.
We also have some pieces for sale in the showroom which cannot be shipped. Pick up only:
Tablezilla for sale: Sagamore Hill and Emerald Green (no cup holders, two piece top included, shown above). Originally $2199. For this table only: $1699!

Which Game Table Suits Your Style?
Remember, each game table design includes a dining top in the price, so you always have a beautiful mahogany table in your nicely decorated room. We know you want to set a beautiful table for the holidays when celebrating with family and friends. Why not a gorgeous mahogany game table for #holidaygaming, too?
Is it Tablezilla, our biggest and most badass at 8 feet long, almost 5 feet wide, and $2199? Each side has an 11 inch edge for portrait-orientation character sheets, snacks, and plenty of room for board game boxes.
Rising Sun by CMON on Simon’s Tablezilla! Shown in Sagamore Hill and Burgundy. Also showing our chairs!
Or could it be our smallest game table, the $899 Coffee Game Table? It’s perfect for jigsaw puzzles, board games, or even Lego™ or train pieces you want to hide when company comes over. At only 20 inches tall this is a popular table for children, or in front of the sofa in the living room. We can also make the Coffee Game Table at dining height for just $100 more (total price $999)!
Perhaps you want our Kitchen Game Tabledesign, which at $1199 is a solid bargain for the board game player. Each side is 4 feet long with 5 inch edges for leaning on. The 38″ x 38″ square play area holds most popular board games and some miniature games like Star Wars™ X-Wing!

Or maybe you want our most popular design, the $1599 Dining Game Table? This is the design we launched on Kickstarter 3 years ago and which began our business! It’s 6 feet long and 4 feet wide to fit in most dining rooms (and some kitchens). The long “player” sides have 8 inch wide edges and the short “host/GM” sides have 11 inch edges.

Based on the popularity of the Dining and Tablezilla, we recently introduced a “Goldilocks” design, the $1999 Banquet Game Table! This design is 7 feet long and 4 feet, 2 inches, wide. The extra 2 inches of width give you 9 inch player sides to hold landscape-orientation character sheets more securely. The extra foot of length allows for 8 seats and optional cup holders. It’s already been a big hit with customers, and it’s under two grand!

For a truly specialized experience for live streaming and television production studios, podcasters, and game groups with some virtual partners and some physical, we have the $1999 Streamer Game Table!
Watch WildCards play Savage Worlds on Twitch @SavingThrowShow!
The Streamer is not our biggest seller, but we don’t care. Streaming services and YouTube reviews and videos of “Actual Play” has helped to bring more gamers than ever before into the hobby. We’re happy to support those who are making it easier to play games. And for those brave souls gaming from overseas with their U.S. friends via webcam…usually because of military service…our hats are off to you. If a game table helps make it easier to play a game and keep your friendship–maybe relieve stress–we’re gosh darned ecstatic about that.
Disaster Relief Cup Holder Upgrade Ends Dec. 31st, 2018
We purposefully set up the Disaster Relief Cup Holder initiative so that you can use the #holidaygaming coupon. Not only does a purchase of Disaster Relief Cup Holders benefit disaster relief in the Carolinas and worldwide, we’ll send you a copy of Dinner & Dice (remember to use the coupon) to say thank you for buying it!
If you want to use the Cup Holder Upgrade now, add a game table to your cart. Do not select cup holders for your table in the drop down—the website will charge you for it. We’ll see that you have the two on your order and figure it out, we promise.
If you’re not ready to use your Cup Holder Upgrade, proceed to checkout. You can wait until December 31, 2019 to use it on a game table purchase! (Make a comment in the order notes so we match up the two orders).
Use the coupon #holidaygaming at checkout. Complete checkout as normal. We’ll ship you a copy of Dinner & Dice!
The Banquet Game Table is 7 feet long (84″) and 4 feet 2 inches wide (50″) overall. The interior play area is 62″ x 32″ (for 5 x 2.5 feet of space with 1″ of clearance all around). The Banquet Game Table’s edges are 11 inches deep for the head and foot (like Tablezilla and our Dining Game Table) for Game Masters, note takers, board game boxes or snack setups. The long sides are 9 inches deep for players.
Dining, Banquet, and Tablezilla lined up: a foot longer as you go up!
Like all of our tables, the Banquet Game Table comes with a removable dining top (its top comes in two pieces so they’re easier to store). It is available at dining, counter, or bar height, and with or without cup holders. Chairs and Side Tables/Benches are available, made from the same sturdy Indonesian mahogany and stained to match, at dining height only.
The new Banquet Game Table design should fit those who are looking to host more gamers in less space, all while keeping the high end aesthetic and quality constructionCarolina Game Tables is known for.
Carolina Game Tables and owners Jodi and Clint Black call North Carolina home, a state hard hit by Hurricane Florence in September 2018. We weathered the storm just fine (we lost a tree, little damage) as did our factory and workers. Our hearts go out to our friends in the eastern part of the state affected by flooding. Our social media feeds are filled with images posted by friends. Real people we know and care about. Moved to help them and others around the world facing or rebuilding from similar disasters, we’ve decided to use the launch of the Banquet Game Table to support a charitable cause.
Purchase “Disaster Relief Cup Holder Upgrade” for $50 with your new table purchase in lieu of paying for the usual cup holder upgrade. We’ll cover the cost of the cup holders, and donate the $50 to Lutheran World Relief. This is a savings of $100–$150 for you, and helps others!
This offer only lasts until December 31, 2018…but you can use it on a table purchase through December 31, 2019. Moved to give more? Purchase the item as many times as you like! You can even gift a Disaster Relief Cup Holder Upgrade to a friend. For complete details, please see our product page here.
Because these are our people. The world is our people. We want others to feel empowered to act, too.
We are called to pray for others in adversity and to go beyond “thoughts and prayers” to be people of action. This is why we chose Lutheran World Relief as our charitable partner.
Lutheran World Relief assists with disaster response in the United States and abroad, both immediately and long term to build resilient communities. We’ve been involved with this organization through our church for decades and seen the good they’ve done. We appreciate that they serve people without regard to religious affiliation, which allows them to help in areas prohibited to other “evangelical” church groups. Read Lutheran World Relief’s FAQ here.
